Overview

Jasmine (Jasminum officinale) is a flowering plant from South Asia that’s most well-known for its gorgeous white flowers and sweet fragrance. Much like other flowering plants, the jasmine plant can be processed into essential oil. The most common way to extract essential oils is through a process called distillation. During distillation, water and heat or steam can be used to separate the essential oil components from the plant. Once extracted, jasmine essential oil can be used in many different personal products.

Benefits

Jasmine essential oil is excellent for managing frizzy hair, making it smoother and stronger. It also addresses scalp infections thanks to its antibacterial and antiviral properties. This oil nourishes hair, helping to prevent breakage and damage. When it comes to skin, it alleviates dryness and conditions like eczema, although it may irritate open wounds. Additionally, jasmine oil supports milk production in nursing mothers and may offer some protection against breast cancer. It helps regulate menstrual cycles, alleviating pain, mood swings, and fatigue. The uplifting scent of jasmine can enhance mood, combat depression, and increase energy levels. Furthermore, the oil possesses antiseptic qualities, which can help prevent infections in wounds and respiratory issues such as colds. Jasmine oil is also recognized for its aphrodisiac properties, enhancing romantic feelings and overall mood. It can aid in sleep by relieving respiratory congestion and minimizing insomnia symptoms.

How To Use

  • Put some in a diffuser and breathe in the aromatic scent.
  • In the same instance, applying jasmine to your skin is thought to work in the same way as inhalation, as a great relaxant.
To do this you should dilute it with a carrier oil and then a few drops to your pulse points.
  • Jasmine is used as a natural soother, much like lavender. Its sweet scent is thought to help manage feelings of stress and anxiety, helping the body to unwind.
  • Jasmine is an aphrodisiac, meaning it can heighten sexual desire. That’s why it’s a common ingredient in massage oils, as well as, of course, perfume.
  • Add 4 to 6 drops of oil into warm running water. Then relax in the bath for at least 10 minutes to allow the aroma to work. You may even want to add some drops of lavender for a more luxurious soak.

Caution

Skin sensitivity may occur. Essential oils are highly concentrated and should be diluted before applying directly to the skin. Keep out of reach from children. If pregnant or breastfeeding please ask your doctor before use.
